My Belonging that I Like the Most 

                        Everyone has many belongings and so do I. I have some favorite things & some ordinary things. Now I want to tell about my favorite belonging that I like the most. That belonging is my wallet. I have already had it for almost 2 years. I always bring it everywhere I go. It’s very important to me, I can’t go with it. I also usually put my precious things there. So, I can’t let everyone to look at my wallet.

                        When you look at my wallet, you can find lots of things in there. It’s caused, I don’t only put money, but also some things that I regard as precious and important. For example : my photos, they are very precious for me. Beside that, you can also look some cards that important to me. They are my identity card, my university student card, etc there.

                        I love my wallet very much. I decided to buy it because there is a Hello Kitty picture. You have to know that Hello Kitty is one of my favorite cartoon. The wallet’s color is also beautiful. That is gold. You can also look some hearts patterns that make it more amazing. And the most advantage that I get is the spaces of my wallet. It make me not confused to put all of my important and precious things.

                        I feel quiet sad today, my wallet has already looked old. The color starts to pale and a little bit dirty. I can’t wash it because It’s made from leather. The skin also gets peeled off. Because of those reasons, I’ve ever thought that I want to buy the new one. But it is cancelled because I still very love it.

                        I feel happy with my wallet. It doesn’t have any disadvantages. It’s very helpful and very nice. It’s comparable with its price.

The function of her belonging can be found in the second paragraph. She puts a lot of things she regards to be precious in there. The readers can imagine the inside of the wallet by reading the supporting ideas.

In the third paragraph, the student has more than one idea organized into a paragraph. Those are the picture, the color, and the space. They are well-organized. From this paragraph, the readers have already known what kind of wallet it is.

   From the fourth paragraph, actually the elaboration or the supporting ideas are suitable with the main idea. Yet, this paragraph tends to recount text, not descriptive text.


I feel happy with my wallet. It doesn’t have any disadvantages. It’s very helpful and very nice. It’s comparable with its price. (Fifth paragraph)


The student writes the conclusion with simple ending paragraph. She concludes that her belonging has a lot of advantages and she feels happy to have that wallet.

  1. Language Features

a.   The Use of Simple Present Tense

The sentence construction of this descriptive composition uses specific tense which is simple present tense. Here are the examples:

-          I have some favorite things & some ordinary things.

-          Now I want to tell about my favorite belonging that I like the most.

-          That belonging is my wallet.

      Nevertheless, the writer uses past tense in the third paragraph of the descriptive composition.

-  I decided to buy it because there is a Hello Kitty picture.

      b. Word choice of sensory words and figurative language

      The writer uses sensory words in the body of the descriptive composition about the picture, the color, and the spaces of the wallet.
